I love gelato, so I was really excited to trot on in to Docetti Gelato to check out the goods. It's hard to find good gelato in Utah! The gelato was good. It wasn't mind-blowing as far as gelato goes, but if I expected ice cream or yogurt, I would probably have HAD to rate it five stars. No, I can't do that though, because... The selection sucked. I don't expect 31 flaves but come on. Give me something special, anything! Nope, nothing special here. But one would certainly EXPECT something special when paying upwards of 10 bucks for a little container. The other problem might be just my neurosis, bleh! I can't stand getting something that I have to watch get scraped off the pan because they barely have enough to serve. If they had fresh gelato in the back, couldn't they have at least gone back for one scoop so I could get some of it? One little scoop?? Ok. I know I'm not supposed to promote other products, but wholefoods stocks a great gelato that is cheaper and tastes better. In the same container as docetti's.

Went here after I had a nice dinner at Pago. I had their bazooki and french pressed coffee. Both were good.

This is a great place as far as gelato goes in UTAH. For those of you giving bad reviews because you did not care for the flavor... dare I suggest tasting before ordering??? I had the Nutella and salted caramel it was deeeelish! Unfortunately my favorite flavor is amaretto and it was not there but the server did tell me it is a flavor that is rotated in on occasion YAY!

Super quirky ice cream shop with lovely ladies greeting you as your come in. We tried the Strawberry Balsamic and Hazelnut gelatos. Off.The.Hook. Good spot to cool off during the summers but I can eat ice cream everyday so I'll probably be hanging out here in the winters as well. In addition to gelato it appears they have other delightful desserts as well. Can't wait to try other flavor concoctions!

The little gelatoria is located right on the edge of a vibrant neighborhood that seems to always have sidewalks full of walking traffic and plenty of available parking. It serves authentic Italian gelato and this is coming from someone who has live in Italy for almost a decade. It is delicious. There is a spacious and wonderful area to eat inside and plenty of seating outside, which is great for people watching. I go here now for my gelato. It is the best.

Nothing much to complain about, best gelato in town. Their flavor range keeps changing every week and every week they seem to be having some flavor that I really like. I would recommend trying their sticky rice and mango favor combo or if you like some more stronger flavor a their pistachio and statiecella mint combo depending on if they happen to have it on the day you visit. The best part is the price is economical for what I consider to be artisan gelatos and they also happen to have the best macaroons in town as well. If ever you feel like wanting a gelato and you happen to be in Utah especially SLC, then this is a place I would recommend.

I first fell in love with gelato from a franchise called Rita's. However they served primarily water ice....this is something none of you Utahn's know about. Anyway, this is what sparked the acceptance of gelato, thus trying this place out. Didn't regret it, I got the black cherry and I can't remember what everyone else in the group got but I tried it all like a fat kid at a buffet. Everything was delicious.

Delicious! And the service was amazing. The parking situation is a struggle but once you get inside its all worth it. The location at 9th and 9th is great and the ambiance inside is pretty rad...lots of awesome stuff to look at. Service was on point. They were friendly and helpful and patient while we tried to figure out what we wanted. Gelato flavors are imaginative and unique! I wanted to sample every, single one! We ended up with chocolate-rich, creamy and delicious, Nutella-so yummy with chunks of Nutella, and Coconut Sticky Rice-the best of the bunch!! So delicious! And the texture is great. They also have macaroons and other treats. This place is a new favorite for us!

Lavender Honey oh my goodness... Best gelato I've ever had. As for the ambiance: totally eclectic and fun, with both indoor and outdoor seating. This is located in the coolest area, and if you have time, take your gelato and walk around the adorable neighborhood behind the street of shops. Also, the staff was so sweet and helpful in picking flavors (which proves to be difficult).

  • Tyra S.

You can't go wrong with the signature coconut sticky rice. I also love the pistachio. Put them together in one of their fresh-made waffle cones and you're in for a great gelato experience! Service is always very good. Friendly staff and fun atmosphere. I love the shadow box table!

  • Noon H.

Must try their sticky rice flavor. My favorite. You won't regret it. Their macaroons were okay.

I really don't understand why people like this place. The gelato is mediocre, I have had a lot better. I love an affogato, gelato with espresso on top. I ordered one here, the espresso was so bitter it completely ruined the whole dessert. Such a shame. Awesome location, especially being next to Mazza but not worth the money. New place in town just opener called Sweetaly, not that is some gelato. Just need them to get a bigger selection!

  • Benjamin H.

Tried this place recently for the 1st time. Have to say, it wasn't bad. Though I advise going with an experienced taster if you are going to order affogato gelato. I got espresso with maple gelato and regretted not ordering something else. Both the espresso and the gelato were delicious.

The ambiance of this shop is akin to if Anthropologie had a gelato shop within. Super cute Anthro-esque decor. The gelato is delicious and the service was excellent. I loved this little block of SLC - very quaint with lots of great options.

Very, very, hugely eclectic spot. Can't overstate this enough, actually. You could spend a long, long time, just hanging out and enjoying the decor and it would be worth it. I really liked how intricate it was. Someone clearly spent a bunch of time on that and it shows. The level of detail is flatly amazing. If you go here, get one of those silver wrapped chocolate things on the EAST side of the check register. Trust me, just do it. This will be arguably the best thing you will have in the place. The sign says amazing and they could not be more dead on. Staff is very kind and incredibly patient, even when she had to constantly interrupt herself to go bail out the ringing phone. I don't know how she maintains that level of calm. I know I couldn't. As to those gelatos...these are a decided step down from Sweetaly. There, I said it, the whole reason you came to read the review. However, this is a very strong runner-up. The Coconut Stracciatella was the runaway best today (probably a Very Good on the overall scale), followed by the Mixed Berry, then Chocolate, which were both Good, then everything else, which were ok/solid. This would be the Vanilla, Pistachio and the Coconut Sticky Rice, that last being the best of those lot, but not by great amounts over the Vanilla. The Lavender Honey we all found kind of funky and wound up tossing it entirely. I'm a fat guy, right, so if I'm tossing away food, let alone ice cream (I know gelato is not, strictly speaking, ice cream, but I consider them the same basic dessert category, so shut up and worry about the semantics in your own review), that should be kind of telling. I wouldn't hesitate to go again, because, despite my tongue-in-cheek review of the "District", I do like this area a lot. Also a food truck is parked across 900 E. from this building a lot. Usually they are good ones. Anyway, not the best gelato I've had or in the city, but a good effort.

  • Emelia W.

Had fior de latte and coconut sticky rice gelato and an earl grey macaroon and it was delicious! I originally wanted to go because I had heard about their matcha flavor but when I ended up trying it, it had a weird aftertaste so after trying almost all the flavors (the girl working was so patient bless her) I picked my 2 and very much enjoyed them. Also as far as macaroons go theirs are pretty good. I then sat down with my friend we noticed the table had a bunch of cool knick knacks so we played I spy while we ate. Overall it was pretty fun.

  • Sadie S.

Every time I come to Dolcetti I spend a solid 10 minutes deciding what I want to get after trying all the unique, fun flavors. That is, hands down, my favorite part about this place. If you want to be basic- go to cold stone and get a boring brownie fudge icecream. If you come here- definitely try the different like coconut sticky rice, rosemary olive oil, tiramisu, forest berry sorbetto, pistachio, etc. You won't be disappointed!

  • Melyssa B.

This was my first time coming here. Let me start by saying how the heck did I not know this place was here! I love the atmosphere when you walk in. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I loved everything from my gelato to my macaroon. You have to try the macaroons they are so yummy. I noticed they also sell all kinda of different teas and chocolates. Will for sure be coming back!!

When it comes to gelato, I am a philistine at best, mongrel at worst. This place is absolutely excellent. Awesome flavors, my favorites are pistachio, coffee, and the peanut butter. If they have the balsamic vinagrette, YOU SHOULD GET IT. It's like cheesecake ice cream. Kills me every time. The people working here are fantastic. Granted, I'm not going as much as when I lived in the 9th and 9th area, but I still find some time to treat myself (and others!) The interior is very cute, this is probably a place tons o' chosen people of the fayth (read: LDS) go on dates. In the summer, the outdoor space is complete bliss. Check this place out if you're feeling a bit peckish for dessert after a fine meal.

The perfect location, the perfect store, for selling the perfect product. What more can you ask for? Well for one thing, better parking for a start. But once you get inside, there is a cornucopia of flavors of different gelatos to choose from. I lean towards the fruit flavored ones. My wife, she loves the coconut sticky rice gelato. Located directly on the corner of 9th and 9th. It's the perfect place on a hot day, or for a treat after dinner. Depending on the size of container you choose you can spend a little, or you can spend a lot. The gelatos are sort of pricey, but truly worth it for the quality. No review of this quaint little shop would be complete without mentioning the wonderful people that work behind the counter. Always friendly, always helpful, always ready to provide a free sample, so you don't have to guess when buying gelato. We stop here after my wife gets off work. There are always lots of people inside, so you know the place is good. Will be back often.

  • Kirsten N.

always friendly service -- happy to let you try samples and talk about the flavors (ask questions!!) open late-ish (for the area) til 10 pm weekdays and 11pm weekends (the answer to my nightly sweets craving) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY the gelato always hits the spot. current favs (subject to change haha) are: *coconut rice pudding (creamy & rich with chewy lil grains of rice) *cookie butter (dark earthy chocolate [OMG] w/swirls of speculous cookie butter) *hazelnut (tastes like something hazelnut-flavored is supposed to taste like!)

  • Michelle K.

Okay, I think things got better. I've been back many times and the staff is great, even when things are crazy busy. Flavors are great as usual.

  • Emily S.

We've always been very pleased with this place. They have a wide selection of both gelato and sorbet as we'll as other goodies. They rotate the flavors regularly so they don't get old, but always have a few staples. Plus, they're located in a really cool area and aren't too expensive.

  • Dream N.

Gelato is good . Macaron BAD . I was so disappointed when I got a dozen of those . Extremely sweet and soggy . Zero crispness . Maybe I went at a bad day because they taste like they have been sitting there for weeks . I still give it 3 stars because I've been here At least 4 times for their gelato not counting when I get it from wholefood and fairs . It's still a good gelato place

  • Felipe Z.

Just like their other location in the avenues, I always feel so great when I hit Dolcetti Gelato. Their workers are always the best! This time, I had a secret combo. They had in the back some banana gelato, and so i had the german chocolate (or whatever the kind of chocolate name is), and mixed it with banana, as recommended by the cool girl helping us out, and it turned out to be a miraculous experience with every spoon. Delish. Great decor, clean always, fun environment, and located in one of the coolest area of SLC - 9th&9th. great dessert place to end a great night with friends or your special someone. Hands down.

I was just robbed! They took $5 of my hard earned money, and all I got for it was two shots of Gelato. Everything here is extremely small, and ridiculously expensive. I have never been ripped off this bad! Sure, the cinnamon Gelato was fabulous, but not $5 fabulous. The chocolate Gelato was a complete disappointment, and I'm mad I paid for it. The location is a cute little spot, and would be a great place to relax. The only thing keeping this from being 1 star is the cinnamon Gelato.

The gelato is decent, though expensive, but do NOT order their hot drinks! I ran in tonight to grab a mocha and a hot chocolate while waiting in line for a Sundance movie across the street. They weren't busy, in fact, one of the employees was leaning against the counter texting throughout my entire visit -- oblivious of me and the endlessly ringing telephone. The girl who helped me was nice but SLOW. Worst of all, the drinks were terrible. TERRIBLE. I paid $7 for two cups of brown water with whipped cream on top. Where is The Hatch family when you need them?! Again, gelato, yes. My friend swears by their pistachio flavor. Gelato shakes are good too, if it's payday or you are independently wealthy. They also have a large selection of specialty chocolates. I noticed tonight that they now carry macaroons, which I thought only old people enjoyed, but they actually looked delicious. The space is wonderful. The drinks were not.

Tried the honeycomb gelato tonight at the art festival. I am on cloud 9 it was amazing and I will come to the shop to get more yum!

Never again ! The staff was anything but polite. We went for a coffee and some waffles in the evening. On ordering the staff said, oh the waffles would take about 5 minutes when I said it was ok, he said oh well they might take 10. As soon as I opened my mouth to say its ok, he went on to..you know it might actually take about 15 to 20 minutes. At this point, I understood he was in no mood to make them so I just had a coffee and walked out. What a pathetic service !

Fans of gelato come here. It's a cute little place with some great gelato. My favorites are the coconut sticky rice and the Mexican chocolate -- I always get a small with two flavors because that is plenty. They also have a kids size which is cheaper than the small if you are bringing kids, so be sure to ask for that. The decor isn't my style but it's cute for a gelato place. My favorite is their "eye spy" table which has hundreds of trinkets in it and you can sit there for hours playing eye spy and it keeps you pretty entertained It's close by a lot of cool restaurants an clothing stores so just stop by here for a quick desert while you're in the area.

Delicious gelato! The texture was great. I had the sticky rice because I was intrigued by it. I also had a scoop of the mango pineapple. The two flavors were perfect together. I like that they had bags of The Queens' Tea for purchase (my primary motivation for going there), but I wish they had a few more choices. I will be back for more gelato when I need a little treat.

let just say i found heaven, ice cream and expresso together? what a awesome pairing, its called am Affogato. If you love that strong expresso taste, this is money( Guy Feiri) lol I got a groupon to a different gelato place (two doors up) but they didnt open til 1pm, so we decided to go this one, oh yeah im glad that other one was close at that time. And all the yummy selections I had such a hard time choosing, so far my favorite is the salted carmel and the mango green tea. I love the decor, its so coffee shopish n trendy, and I love that its locally own.

What a fun place Dolcetti's is! There is ample seating here, modern decor, and a huge flat screen tv- they were playing The Princess Bride tonight. Lots of seating outside to, should the weather permit. Dolcetti's makes an abundance of inspired flavors, more than the run of the mill chocolate and vanilla for sure. We were told by the clerk that the most popular flavor is Sweet Sticky Rice, which is delectable indeed. There were several fruity/berry flavors, cinnamon, a white wine custard and lavender honey. And yes, they do have espresso, chocolate and straciatella (chocolate chip). Fun place, great location. Recommended for sure.

Yum, Yum, Yum who doesn't love a good gelato place. I had the coconut sticky rice and the malted chocolate today, very fantastic. I had sampled the Jalapeno chocolate also good but the spicy kick at the end was a little more than I could handle in my dessert, although this would be an excellent choice for the spicy palate. The small is really all one needs and they have a bambino size for kids, although it is not displayed.

DROP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND TRY THIS PLACE IMMEDIATELY! Here are the highlights of this unique and authentic gelatoria: MENU: First and foremost the gelato is delicious! Creamy and rich yet with a light texture, the one challenge is picking a flavor when there are so many great ones! Some of my favs: Nutella, coconut and sticky rice and wait for it............. LAVENDER HONEY made from organic honey harvested from the owner's beehive!! ?? All the gelatos are made from scratch, and being health conscious, if I'm going to indulge it is great to do it with a treat that is isn't processed. ATMOSPHERE: Funky and charming with multiple seating areas, including a large flat screen to quietly play movies like the Red Balloon for added ambience. Like other reviewers I was taken back by the huge handmade chandelier! STAFF: Courteous and warm, they always have a smile on their faces. While trying to pick a flavor, the adorable owner took me through the selection, happily encouraging me to sample a few before making a decision. As we chatted, she told me the lovely story of how she became inspired to start her business and of how much she loves it. I have to say I love supporting a locally owned business run by a married couple who truly love what they do and put that passion into the product. PRICE: I'm not sure why a couple of other reviewers have complained -I'm guessing they are uncultured hillbillies who have never ventured beyond the .99 cent scoop at Harmon's. This is hand crafted Italian Gelato and with premium ingredients -it won't cost the same as the watered down, crusty crap you get at an ice cream shop. BONUS: The wonderful artisan products for sale! Gourmet chocolate bars, imported balsamics and syrups, hand made marshmallows, rose lemonade... it goes on and on! Thank you Dolcetti's for bringing a little culture, and charm to 9th and 9th!

This place is adorable and even has outside seating available. We got the chocolate, which is rich but so yummy, the Italian chocolate chip that all of us devoured, and a Nutella macaroon cookie that was soooooo tasty I wanted more but the other half gave 'the' look! It was a bit on the higher end of price than our love of frozen yogurt, but trust me, we will be returning.

YES, YES , YES. Dolcetti Gelato is doing everything right. Great selection with unique flavors and plenty of options to spruce things up with a sundae or a drink. I had the half baked cookie and gelato sundae for $5.50 and left very satisfied. The root beer gelato is yummy. Macaroons looked delish (especially espresso). The ambiance is, in a word, adorable. There is vintage furniture, stylized maps of Italy, and indie music playing. Check this place out!

The gelato is okay, but the customer service was horrible... and then I came to find out it was the owner who had helped us. Eek! Rude, unhelpful, and rushed-- when we were the only ones in line. I have heard from several other people that the owners are very rude and narcissistic. This doesn't have any influence on my rating, but I heard they take the plastic, colored gelato containers out of the trash, wash and reuse them.

I think I have found my Salt Lake gelato and sorbetto shoppe and its called Dolcetti Gelato! In English that means Sweet Frozen! Yay for individual word translations! I enjoy this place a whole lot because it's in a wonderful location in 9th and 9th and really is a complementing asset to this area. I have no idea why this place isn't more crowded, but I love that it isn't. It's as though I have this place to myself...all for Sky T. The prices are reasonable and the gelato is so Sweet Frozen and you are always more than welcomed to sample before you buy. Another thing that I love about this place is that the flavors are always constantly changing. One day there's Tiramisu and the next there is Mexican Chocolate and they are both Sweet Frozen! Along with the gelato and sorbettos, there are other desserts that you can choose from such as: waffles, cakes, chocolate candies, and scones. I imagine that they are Sweet Frozen too. Yeah, I'm a Sweet Frozen fan. Are you Sweet Frozen?

The incredible chandelier, cute couches, and funky-slash-chic decor is almost enough to warrant 5 stars. You add gelato on top of that and suddenly you're in a delicious bliss. Located in the trendy but tasteful 9th and 9th neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Dolcetti is one of several gelato shops in the valley, but just might be the coolest. The eclectic decor and convenient location (though often inconvenient parking) amongst other charming businesses make it an easy target to pop in for a sweet treat when out shopping. The freezer case full of flavors just screams out to be sampled from. You're in luck; samples are quick and easy to come by from a smiling staff. I wouldn't describe them as bubbly and friendly, they're more barista-like in their demeanor. Almost too cool for school, but with a touch of midwestern earthiness that helps you bond over a common love for the delicious. The gelato. Perhaps it's just my luck, but most times it seems that they're heavier on the nutty flavors and the chocolate flavors. Oh, they've got a few fruity flavors, but it's more of a grown-up palate that might enjoy Dolcetti's offerings. I sampled a ginger flavor that was all adult-like from a friend, but I ended up going with a couple of the only fruity flavors there - a passionfruit and a lemon. Both were zingy, sharp flavors, but thumbs up to the lemon which was the clear winner. The passionfruit was good, but when you compare the texture to the unbelievably creamy lemon it's clear that they've discovered lemons in an exalted form. Perfection.

I must admit that I don't know much about gelato. For a while there, I thought I didn't like it after a bad experience many moons ago, but I recently gave it another shot and found myself pleasantly surprised. Now, empowered with my newfound love of gelato, I decided to try this place, which is a short walk from my house. I've been a few times now, always trying new flavors, always impressed with the tasty deliciousness found in those little cups. And I like that they're little, because they make me feel less guilty. So the gelato is tasty, they have many intriguing flavors, the prices aren't too bad, AND the location is awesome. I'm sold.

dreaming of something other than ice cream? craving something tasty, semi-good for you, & will transport you to the streets of italy. this might be your place, it was mine. it's filled with awesome artwork. they make their own honey, along with many other things they sell. the flavors of gelato are interesting. the sticky rice is crazy.. in a good way.. you can really taste the coconut & sweat cream, all you need is mango (wink wink, nudge nudge to dolcetti gelato) & you would have the combined dessert. i had the forestberry. i'm not really sure what a sort of berry that is, i imagine it grows in a forest due to it's name, though it was very tasty - not too sweet. not tart. definitely my goldilocks of gelato. plus, i like the color. i couldn't stop looking around, there's so much to take in. i'll definitely be returning. p.s. if you have any pictures from your trip to italy, they are happy to take them & put them in an album they have to show to other patrons. p.p.s great local business. support them, they're worth keeping around for your kids.

I'm a little confused about the location of this place. I saw the quick tip saying that it was at 900E at 2100 South, and that's where I found it. But the dolcetti gelato website still has the old address and yelp won't let me edit the address they have. That beside, I was looking for some cold sweet treats on this very hot Pioneer Day, which by the way, is a new holiday for me. We yelped and found Dolcetti Gelato. It was a little tricky to find- they still have a temporary sign and they share a back door with Tea Grotto. (The door from the parking lot.) It's on the north-west corner, same parking lot as Este Pizza. Okay, now for the gelato. Now, I've never been to Italy, so maybe according to some people, I am no judge of gelato. However, I LOVED it. The flavors were seriously rich and intense. Maybe the texture wasn't as creamy as I expected, but otherwise I couldn't have been happier. I got honey lavender and also the watermelon sorbetto. Yum! As for the decor/atmosphere, it's a terrific cute zen-ish (on one side at least) coffeehouse atmosphere with couches, tables, TV. Looks like they have wifi because I saw a few people there chilling with their laptops. Nice thing is that it's connected to Tea Grotto too, so if you're in a group, everybody can be happy! We will be back for sure.

Mango sorbetto tastes EXACTLY like North Sea Herring puréed in a food processor... and it's a shame to waste good Herring like that. In fairness, the Forest Berry was amazing. Very nice staff... who ran out of credit card terminal paper.

You can't go wrong with the pastries and gelato in this place. The environment and decor are cutesy, matching some other places in the neighborhood and the staff is very friendly. Definitely coming back.

Holy yum! Whoever complained about the service, I guess they got the message because it was great tonight. They let us and another couple sample about every flavor in the cooler before making our selection, all with a smile. The coconut sticky rice was my fav and I split it with lemon...you can put multiple flavors in one cup. Well worth the $3.50!

Just visted Dolcetti last night. What a fun, little gelato place! Really, so good! I had the macaroon gelato mixed with the salted caramel. SO delicious! And we also tried their Belgian waffle, which was to die for. Nice, crispy (almost caramelized) crunch on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The shop is very eclectic and fun inside and the location is great. They also have pastries, some truffle-like chocolate, drinks and even steel-cut oats in the morning. My favorite is the knick-knack table in the corner: a glass-topped table with all sorts of treasures underneath. Each week the owner adds something new and if you can figure it out, you get a free small gelato! Very inexpensive as far as gelato is concerned. Love it!

Sticky rice gelato. That is all. No really, that's pretty much all you need to know. The location at 9th and 9th is, of course, superb. The inside decor is fun, clean, and interesting. They have maps under the glass on the tables, a comfortable couch, and tons of light. But, honestly, what I really care 'bout is food. The day I went they had sticky rice gelato as the special. You could have it served with diced mangoes and coconut milk for a sundae like creation. We wanted to experience the gelato in plain form so we opted out of the add ons. Let me tell you, best flavor ever. Like sticky rice pudding (which I'm not even huge into) but better. The texture was oh so amazing. And with every little bit of rice, my heart flipped a little. I told them they need to stick with this flavor. Because if they do? They could make a lot of money off of this girl's impulse purchases.

Oh what Heavenly Bliss!! This gelato is creamy, tasty, and absolutely divine. Dolcetti provides a nice variety of creative flavors. My favorite is the Coconut Sticky Rice. You can get this served up as a special with fresh mangos and coconut milk drizzled on top for just $5. A perfect after meal treat.

I went here tonight for a tasty winter treat and wasn't disappointed. I tried the Espresso (gelato, not the coffee, though they do have an espresso machine) and the Dolce de Leche flavors. I chose the Espresso while my girlfriend settled on a Dolce de Leche and Chocolate combination. Both were delicious, with a perfect creamy texture and lots of flavor. I asked if they made the gelato in-house, and the owner told me they make everything, from the cookies to the gelato to assorted other treats, in-house and fresh. The interior of Dolcetti is fantastic, with kitschy artwork and handmade decorations on the walls and tables, a whirlwind-inspired giant chandelier, and imported snacks and chocolates in cabinets against the wall. Both proprietors were there while I was visiting, and both were pleasant and helpful. Overall, I'm really impressed, and I'll be back! I want to try the fabulous-looking gelato cookies. You should go too - it's worth the trip.

Great little shop that is located at the heart of 9th and 9th. We had the salted Carmel & raspberry gelato and it was amazing! Such a fun place to get gelato at on a warm summer's night.

Sad to report I have now had two bad experiences at this place. Dolcetti used to be part of the Tea Grotto and as such, it used to serve panini and crepes. Their website still shows the old menu but this is no longer the case: This place is gelato only with the nearest thing to actual food being a Belgian waffle. Tonight I wanted to try the Belgian waffle so I ordered it. I arrived with a friend who had a Groupon which she used to pay for our order. Or at least, she thought she used it to pay for our order. It turned out the employee took her $12 Groupon and rang up her $4.75 gelato. And that's it. Somehow, even though we were clearly together he didn't ring our order together and he didn't even ask her if she wanted anything else for the $12. He just canceled the entire certificate and that was that. So, after I returned from the restroom I asked him about my waffle just to confirm that it was indeed paid for and he said "no" and that he couldn't add it at this point because the Groupon was already used so there was nothing he could do. I would have to pay separately for my waffle and my friend had just given him a really huge tip for her $4.75 gelato. Even the other customers in the shop asked why he couldn't just give me the waffle; after all, it had been paid for. So I left sans waffle and added this to my other bad experience at this place which I won't bother to relate here. I did once have a pleasant experience but that was when I only ordered gelato. Maybe if you stick with just the ice cream you'll have better luck.

Usually our favorite gelato spot. Great variety of flavors, especially the salted caramel. However, the sizes are a bit small for the price and waffle cones aren't always available. There is also a lack of consistency in flavors. They tend to run out of the good flavors quite often and the sorbets don't always cut it. Overall, there are some things they should pay more attention to (i.e. flavor consistency, sizing/pricing, and waffle cones!) but when they do it right, their gelato is great!

Where to start.... Five star gelato, amazing and sweet staff, all fresh/local/artisan ingredients. The gelato is delicious, all made from scratch. They wholesale out to the most prestigious businesses in the valley including Grand America, Whole Foods, Michaelangelos, Naked Fish and the like. They are constantly rotating their flavors (by the way they have over 300 of them) and if you kindly request flavors, they will listen! Use fresh and local milk from Rosehill Dairy. They have all different kinds of treats as well if you aren't in the mood for just gelato. Their half baked cookies are always fresh and warm (HUGE TOO), and you can get it sundae style. Their macaroons are to DIE FOR. The owner makes them herself a few times a week making sure they are fresh and flavorful. The flavors match the gelato perfectly, and the consistency is amazing. (If you check in on FB or YELP, you get a free one to try!) The owners are really great people who are dedicated to presenting the most amazing experience, super artsy as well. I've tried just about every gelato spot in the valley, and Dolcetti is definitely my favorite. Great atmosphere.

Yum yum yum! Both the coconut sticky rice and the pear gelato were delish! The girl at the counter was very friendly and talked to us for a long time since we're just moving to SLC. She even referenced the review that someone else made about the hot drinks not tasting right, and specifically checked to make sure it tasted good. The ambience is really nice and comfortable, and there were tons of magazines and books around to read. I'll have to make this place a regular haunt once I get settled in!

Mmmmmmmm!! I have yet to try a bad flavor at this place. I tried Dolcetti a few years ago when they first opened and wasn't impressed with it but I have just recently been back this year and I don't know if it's just me or them but the stars aligned and I was swept away on a delicious wave of gelato! Lavender Honey is by far one of my favorite flavors. Have also tried the Zabayone, Mango, Strawberry, and Nutella and all are reeeaaaal good!

Real, local business that serves up a great product. The owners are nice people who need the support of SLC locals. Go get a cup of gelato & show some support! You won't be disappointed.

Delicious, authentic fresh-made gelato. I loved it. Very good espresso drinks and fresh-made bakery treats, too. I like the owner too. He came out from back and gave me a taste of just-made bananna walnut gelato that was to die for. I'm a regular at Coffee Garden, but it's sometimes crowded there. Dolcetti on the other hand has an open, comfortable seating area with couches as well as tables. I'm definitely coming back for more! So glad to have Dolcetti at 9th and 9th!

Great place, great flavor gelato, at a decent price. Love their extensive flavor variety! Tried their coconut-sticky rice gelato that everyone was raving about. Had great flavor, but the texture of the rice was, in my opinion, too hard (I've always had them chewy and soft)

I have mixed feelings about this place. The customer service was great. Girl, who helped us was very friendly, very nice, and very patient. Gelato was good. Not fantastic, but good. However, the servings are tiny and super expensive.

Their coconut sticky rice gelato with fresh diced mango is no joke. Literally tastes like mango sticky rice except colder and more lusciously creamy. The other flavors weren't as memorable to me, but the sticky rice gelato? A triumph.

One of the best gelato places I have been to. And I have been to a lot! I agree with the other reviewers that the coconut sticky rice is to die for! They update flavors every week it seems. This is a place you could definitely go broke at because of how good they are! The atmosphere is really laid back with couches and friendly staff. If you must go to gelato place go here!

So Ive had Gelato all over the place in Utah and when I came into Dolcetti Gelato not only was the atmosphere adorable (if you haven't been to their new place you MUST check it out!) but the flavors imaginative and delicious! I couldn't get enough of it. Basically my husband and I are addicted to the place. Pistachio, Banana Rum, and the Pumpkin are my favorites so far! I got my kids the Belgian waffles with strawberries and creme fresh and they loved it. I was pretty impressed and its become the families place of choice to get dessert.

Wonderful! Their gelato is made from scratch, not from a base, and it shows. I thought it was pretty close to the gelato we had in Italy. The new location at 9th & 9th is very nice.

If you are feeling nostalgic for true Italian ice cream..the kind you grab and eat while doing a passagatta in Roma..This is not it..It was good ice cream, very flavorful, but nothing like the gelato from Italy...Makes me miss it even more...

I love the gelato place attached to Setebello but they NEVER have salted caramel and oh, I crave it so. Tonight, when I walked into Dolcetti, the first thing I noticed was salted caramel gelato. Despite being STUFFED from dinner at Mazza, I had a large. I thought about getting a second but I was afraid my friends would judge me. Salted caramel gelato. So good!

First time here with girlfriends late last night. The line was out the door! (Good Sign). They are super friendly and let you try whatever flavor you want. Every flavor of Gelato is absolutely amazing. They are rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The serving sizes seem small, but they are just right. The gelato is so rich and filling you can't eat more than there cup sizes. It is more refreshing and sensory satisfactory than any other ice cream place. The overall atmosphere gives a niche downtown and local feel to it. Highly recommend!

Ever since I've been here, I spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking about the French macarons... I have a bit of an obsession with macarons and it started here. The coconut sticky rice is a must. Seriously. Just eat it. If you don't like it, you must be a robot. The rest of the gelato is delicious, but none of them stack up to the coconut sticky rice. Inside is funky and fun with reclaimed furniture and odd items everywhere. Great little place to sit and enjoy a good conversation and delicious sweets.

I haven't had gelato in Utah since Maestro's closed in Provo. So I might be biased because of my severe drought, but this gelato was delicious. Super creamy, great variety of flavors. It was a little pricey, but I suppose the quality supported the bill. The staff was fine, but not particularly friendly. Again, can't complain, it's not that they were overtly rude, just very disinterested in their customers. All in all, I'd go back - I'm just glad I'm better prepared now.

Yum yum. The gelato here is creamy and delicious and there are so many varieties of flavors. The two teens working the counter were friendly and cheerfully entertained our requests for samples before settling on an order. The environment is quirky and cozy with lots of choices for seating and interesting artwork dangling from the ceilings and adorning the tables. Dolcetti attracts a fun and diverse crowd. It is perfect for a family outing, date night, or just a casual drop in to fulfill a gelato craving.

always friendly service -- happy to let you try samples and talk about the flavors (ask questions!!) open late-ish (for the area) til 10 pm weekdays and 11pm weekends (the answer to my nightly sweets craving) AND MOST IMPORTANTLY the gelato always hits the spot. current favs (subject to change haha) are: *coconut rice pudding (creamy & rich with chewy lil grains of rice) *cookie butter (dark earthy chocolate [OMG] w/swirls of speculous cookie butter) *hazelnut (tastes like something hazelnut-flavored is supposed to taste like!)

We've always been very pleased with this place. They have a wide selection of both gelato and sorbet as we'll as other goodies. They rotate the flavors regularly so they don't get old, but always have a few staples. Plus, they're located in a really cool area and aren't too expensive.

Tried this place recently for the 1st time. Have to say, it wasn't bad. Though I advise going with an experienced taster if you are going to order affogato gelato. I got espresso with maple gelato and regretted not ordering something else. Both the espresso and the gelato were delicious.

Check this place out!

let just say i found heaven, ice cream and expresso together? what a awesome pairing, its called am Affogato.

Perfection.

Amazing gelato and even better vibe. It doubles as an art gallery so it makes a nice evening out. I recommend a Queen's tea while you're at it.

You can't go wrong with the signature coconut sticky rice. I also love the pistachio. Put them together in one of their fresh-made waffle cones and you're in for a great gelato experience! Service is always very good. Friendly staff and fun atmosphere. I love the shadow box table!
